New Orleans Wedding Photographer Styled Shoot | The Crossing Kenner Louisiana Wedding
I recently had the opportunity to participate in a styled bridal shoot in New Orleans. We spent three hours together, 5 photographers, 3 models and countless talented vendors working together and creating magic. It was my first first styled shoot and here are four reasons why I believe every photographer should jump at the chance to participate in one!
1. Build a community with local models, photographer, hair and makeup artists
If you are a creative introvert like myself, you could probably be happily ticking away at your work for hours and forget the world exists. Building a community with other local photographers and models give you space to be creative with other people. Providing you with people to collaborate with on future projects!
2. You Gain Experience with no Pressure
Whether you are just starting out or a well seasoned pro, doing or participating in a styled shoot is a great way to gain experience without the pressure. We all have crazy ideas that might work, or might fail. Test them out at a styled shoot and push your creativity!
3. Challenge yourself
Do you tend to keep it safe at session to ensure you get the right shots? At a styled shoot you have the chance to try and try again until you get your image perfect, without asking your clients to do the same pose/prompt a million times.
4. Produce Beautiful images and up level your portfolio
You know the common advice to “dress for the job you want”? The same applies to your portfolio. Display the portfolio for your dream clients. Photograph every wedding like it’s a 10k job and styled shoots can add images to the mix!
Here are some of my favorite images from the shoot. We did have a second bride at the shoot, her images I am am saving for a second post coming soon!
